    Portraying the quiet inner strength of the subject was my goal in this painting. I love the old proverb 'better a warrior in the garden than a gardener in the war.'
    Some of the most valuable teachings in martial arts aren't just about doing battle but instead focus on the importance of modesty and compassion.
    Members of the bear clan considered the grizzly their kin.
    They were certainly great warriors, but perhaps just as essential was their profound understanding of the ways of the natural world and thus their very proficient ways of healing as well as doing battle.
