Teresa Elliott
B i o g r a p h y
1953 -
A native Texan, Elliott graduated from The University of Kansas with a BA in Fine Arts. She then returned to Texas working as a leading freelance illustrator in Dallas for 27 years. “I have many years of art experience, so my development as an oil painter was fueled by working with the figure, portraiture and design,” says Elliott. In 2005 she returned to her fine art roots, dedicating herself exclusively to her studio practice as an oil painter.
Her honors include Artist's Choice award at the 2008 Cowgirl Up! show and the People's Choice Award at the 2009 Coors Western Art Exhibit. She was recently awarded Best of Show at the 2009 Night Of Artists show for the Briscoe Western Museum. Art Renewal Center's International Salon Competition Awards: Chairman's Choice 2012, Honorable Mention in figurative 2013, Finalist in figurative 2014, Chairman’s Choice in figurative 2015, Finalist in animal 2015. ACOPAL’s Grand prize winner from the America China Oil Painting Artists League Competition 2011; Saks Galleries American Art Invitational, Denver, Colorado, Collector’s Choice 2013; Coors Western Art Exhibit People's Choice 2014, 2013, 2012, 2010, 2009; Artist’s Magazine Annual Competition, 3rd place in figurative.
Elliott paints in the wide open spaces of West Texas in the Big Bend area south of her home in Alpine, Texas.
